Xavi Simons has had his first major press moment as a player of RB Leipzig. The forward of the Dutch national team explained why he chose to take a step to the Bundesliga. The talent, who departed from PSV, is also looking forward to the Champions League.

"I found the Bundesliga very challenging," Simons said during a press conference with his new employer. It convinced him to leave Eindhoven. "Young players can develop very well in Germany. When the project came up, I wanted to seize it with both hands. Thinking about playing in this top league made me hungry."
Simons listened to coach Marco Rose's plans and then decided to take the plunge. Through Paris Saint-Germain, the German top club was able to loan him. "Naturally, you hear a lot about the club from players you know, and I gathered more information. I also spoke with the coach, and I immediately had a very good feeling about it. It was so good that I couldn't pass up this opportunity. I wanted to go for it right away; he was the main reason."
"I also think I fit very well into the coach's system," Simons explained. Leipzig plays with two deep forwards, while there are two attacking midfielders supporting those strikers. Against Udinese, Simons was one of the deepest forwards. "I can play well there, but also on the flank as a number 10. With the players up front, we can create a very good connection. Everyone knows how to move. In this formation, I can develop enormously."
