Wout Weghorst has left Manchester United after his loan period, but it is highly likely that the striker won't be playing in the Premier League next season either. There is interest in the striker from various clubs, with Bayer Leverkusen's interest currently appearing concrete.

At least, that's what the usually well-informed Kicker reports. The Dutchman is seen as a competitor for Patrick Schick, who is also sidelined in the coming months. Weghorst can take over the position up front and then compete with the Czech striker.
Weghorst, whose name has previously been mentioned at other clubs in the rumor mill, is not the only candidate, as Nicolas Füllkrug from Werder Bremen is also on the list. He can replenish the Dutch enclave at the sixth-placed team from last season, as all the other compatriots (Mitchel Bakker, Timothy Fosu-Mensah - who still needs to officially leave, and Daley Sinkgraven) have already departed from the Werkself this summer.
Weghorst's contract with Burnley still has two more years to run, but the Dutch striker certainly didn't make an indelible impression during his six-month spell at Manchester United. He failed to score in the Premier League. Therefore, it is likely that the promoted club will seek a different solution for the forward in the upcoming season.
