The likelihood of David de Gea leaving Manchester United seems to be growing increasingly. According to Manchester Evening News, manager Erik ten Hag is pushing for the arrival of a new goalkeeper at The Mancunians.
The contract of De Gea officially expires at the end of this month. This marks the end of a twelve-year period during which the 45-time Spanish international stood between the posts at Old Trafford. The tally stands at 545 official matches for United.
According to the regional newspaper Manchester Evening News, there are increasing signs that United and De Gea are not reaching an agreement in discussions for a new contract. The English record champions acquired the goalkeeper from Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2011 for €25 million.
Although De Gea won the 'Golden Glove' this season, awarded to the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in the Premier League, he also made some notable errors during (European) matches against Brentford, Sevilla, West Ham United, and Manchester City.
Andre Onana (Internazionale) is mentioned as a prominent candidate to replace De Gea. The Cameroonian goalkeeper worked with Ten Hag for years at Ajax. FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa and Jordan Pickford (Everton) are also linked to United.
