The UEFA has announced the penalties issued following the investigation conducted by the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) last season. This committee investigates whether clubs comply with the Financial Fair Play rules of the European football federation.
In the UEFA statement, Antwerp FC is immediately mentioned. The fine for the Belgian champion could be the highest, up to two million euros. The club of coach Mark van Bommel and technical director Marc Overmars must pay at least three hundred thousand euros. If the club fails to comply with the plan discussed with UEFA to become financially healthier, the sum will increase. Similar arrangements have been made with Trabzonspor.
Barcelona has been fined five hundred thousand euros. This is due to incorrect registration of income and assets. UEFA points out that this does not involve manipulation of transfer amounts.
The fine for Manchester United is three hundred thousand euros. UEFA does not specify what the English club has done wrong with its accounting. It concerns relatively small differences between the submitted figures and the actual figures.
Under Supervision
Nine clubs were under additional UEFA supervision last season due to previous financial missteps. Lille has met the agreed settlement arrangements and is no longer under extra supervision. AC Milan, AS Monaco, AS Roma, Besiktas, Internazionale, Olympique Marseille, and Paris Saint-Germain have also met their arrangements for the past season, but are not yet finished with the plan discussed with UEFA. Istanbul Basaksehir failed to do so and has received a fine of four hundred thousand euros for this.
