The Spaniard scored the only goal in the final against Internazionale. A technical panel of UEFA deemed him the best player in the Champions League this season. Napoli revelation Khvicha Kvaratshkhelia has been named the tournament's best young player.

The winger played nine matches, scoring twice and providing four assists. He notably caused trouble for Ajax in the group stage.

Despite his honorary title, Kvaratshkhelia is absent from the Team of the Year. Thibaut Courtois is the best goalkeeper. Federico Dimarco, Alessandro Bastoni, Rúben Dias, and Kyle Walker form the defense. The midfield consists entirely of Manchester City players, with Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, and John Stones. With Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva, two players from the winner's team are also included in the forward line. Vinícius Júnior completes the team.
