The experience at Ajax has helped me enormously

Despite not playing much, Lorenzo Lucca cherishes good memories from his time at Ajax. The striker was brought in as a battering ram but barely got a chance to play.

Ajax rented Lucca from Pisa FC, including an option to purchase for ten million euros. The club decided not to take the tall striker on a permanent basis, yet Lucca is happy with his time at Ajax. 'The experience in the Netherlands has helped me enormously. Ajax is a football school, it was my first year abroad and it helped me a lot mentally, but also on an individual level. It's a different way of working than in Italy,' he tells the Italian media.

Lucca, who scored twice in fourteen matches for Ajax, is now playing for Udinese on loan. He looks up to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, his idol. 'I've been following him since I was little. There were a lot of pictures of him at Ajax. The way he scores goals... I can learn a lot from that, being in the right place at the right time. A lot of people say I resemble Peter Crouch. He's not my ideal player, but he was very strong. We are roughly the same height, although I think he is a different type of player than I am.'

Lucca hopes to showcase himself at Udinese. 'My first goal in Serie A gave me a unique feeling, a dream of every player. Now I want more.'
