Erik ten Hag has acquired the temporary replacement for Luke Shaw at Manchester United. Sergio Reguilón is being loaned from Tottenham Hotspur for a season. The manager confirmed this on Friday afternoon.

Ten Hag has been dealing with a shortage of left-backs in recent weeks. Tyrell Malacia missed the entire preparation due to an injury, and Luke Shaw withdrew a few days ago with a injury for a number of weeks.
Malacia is almost recovered by now, but the shortage remains for the time being, Ten Hag explained in the press conference leading up to the crucial match against Arsenal. 'We have an issue in that position due to Luke Shaw's injury. We've reacted well to this emergency situation.'
With Reguilón, United is bringing in an experienced left-back, according to Ten Hag. 'Very experienced, indeed. He has already played for big clubs and has a significant number of La Liga and Premier League matches under his belt. His background is solid, and he can handle high intensity, which makes me happy.'
The 26-year-old Spanish defender has already played 56 La Liga matches and 52 Premier League matches for Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur. His debut for The Red Devils will likely happen against Arsenal. 'He's here, has already trained with the team, and is available.'
Furthermore, United has not secured a purchase option in the loan deal and there's a January clause in the contract, allowing for the possibility to send Reguilón back to London in January.
