Ten Hag is Honest, He Will Never Throw Players Under the Bus

Marcel Sabitzer fondly recalls his time working with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. The Champions League winner of 1999 and 2008 took the Austrian midfielder on loan from Bayern Munich for the second half of the last season.

"Ten Hag is obsessed with details," Sabitzer tells The Athletic. "You could wake him up at 3 a.m. and he'd be able to talk to you about his strategy with passion."

"He also just knows a lot about football and tactics. Ten Hag is a hard worker and truly a perfectionist," continues Sabitzer, who also praises the Dutchman's character. "He's just honest with you. When I played poorly once, he showed me certain situations and told me how it should be better next time. I like that. With him, you know exactly where you stand. He will never throw you under the bus. I really learned a lot from him."

The 29-year-old Sabitzer, who won the Carabao Cup with Manchester United, has been playing for Borussia Dortmund since last summer.
