Barcelona is facing several uncertainties in the lead-up to El Clásico. Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Robert Lewandowski appeared to be ruled out for the highly anticipated encounter with Real Madrid, but to everyone's surprise, they participated in the group training on Friday.
The Catalan newspaper Sport reported on Wednesday that De Jong might be sidelined for a month, but the latest developments tell a different story. The Dutchman returned to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training field on Friday and, to everyone's surprise, joined the group training along with Jules Koundé, Lewandowski, Pedri, and Raphinha.
The quintet appeared to be ruled out for the showdown against Real Madrid, and the question remains whether any of them can still take part on Saturday. Because only the first fifteen minutes of the training session were public, Spanish media are left guessing whether the injured players were able to complete the group training. Sergi Roberto stayed indoors and appears to be definitively ruled out for the Real match.
Xavi will hold a press conference on Friday, and it will become clear which players will at least be part of the match squad.
