After lengthy negotiations with twenty different investors, Barcelona has reached an agreement for a loan of a total of 1.45 billion euros. The money is intended for Espai Barça, a construction project in which Camp Nou will be extensively renovated, among other things.

The plans for renovating and modernizing the stadium have been on the table for some time, but Barcelona had to work hard to raise the necessary funds. In a referendum in December, the socio members gave the green light for attempts to obtain a loan of up to 1.5 billion euros. More than four months later, Barcelona can announce an agreement regarding this loan.

Barcelona, which has been struggling with financial problems for some time, will borrow a total of 1.45 billion euros from twenty different investors. The work on Camp Nou will begin on June 1st, with the aim of completing the project in the summer of 2026. Barcelona will only begin to repay the loan after that. The club believes it can do so with the revenue generated by the renovated stadium; it is expected that the new Camp Nou will generate 247 million euros per year for Barcelona.
