Heung-Min Son appears to have a sixth sense. The South Korean from Tottenham Hotspur predicted before the match that his teammate Micky van de Ven would score. The Dutchman eventually scored the winning goal against Luton Town on Saturday.
"It's amazing," said Van de Ven after his heroics in front of the TNT Sports camera. "As a team, we really showed a fantastic mentality. I'm very happy to score my first Premier League goal for Tottenham Hotspur. And to keep a clean sheet as well, that's the best feeling for a defender."
Van de Ven capitalized on the automatisms of his teammate James Maddison and shared his pre-game exchange with Son. 'I know that Maddison looks for a cutback when he reaches the byline. So, I stepped back, and he put it perfectly on my left foot. It was funny because when we were on the bus heading to the stadium, Son already told me that I would score my first goal. I said: who knows, but I really did score it.'
Son himself later appeared in front of the camera and had a laugh about the incident. 'I already had a feeling he was going to score. We were sitting at a table on the bus together, and I just felt he was going to get one. I'm really happy for him; he played really fantastic today.' Van de Ven was eventually named the Player of the Match.
