Christophe Galtier has been arrested by the police for questioning in a racism case that came to light in April of this year. This has been confirmed by the public prosecutor in Nice, where the incident is said to have taken place.
In mid-April, accusations of racism against Galtier (56) surfaced through RMC Sport. This was revealed in an email from former OGC Nice director Laurent Fournier. In a detailed letter, Fournier informed Dave Brailsford, director of football operations for Nice's owner, INEOS, that former Nice coach Galtier had confided in him that there shouldn't be "too many black and Muslim players in the team."
Following the news, Galtier received significant support from players he had coached, including former Fortuna Sittard striker Burak Yilmaz, who defended the current Paris Saint-Germain coach. Galtier himself denied the accusations. However, on Friday, he was indeed arrested by the police for questioning in this case.
Galtier's son was also arrested, and the investigation by the public prosecutor has expanded considerably. A search was conducted at Galtier and Nice's residence, and several players from the club were interrogated. Galtier and his son have been in custody since this morning, and within the next 24 hours, it will be determined whether they will remain in custody.
Galtier still has one year left on his contract as PSG coach, but negotiations are underway for the termination of his employment. Luis Enrique is being considered as his potential successor.
