The Premier League is set to make adjustments to the VAR protocols, as reported by the PA news agency. This is in response to the colossal blunder against Liverpool in the match against Tottenham.

In the English top match, there was a complete mix-up between VAR and officiating. "Check completed, check completed. It's fine, perfect. Done," could be heard after the VAR review. Everyone behind the screens believed it was about approving a goal by Luis Diaz. However, in reality, it was about an offside check.

As a result, referee Simon Hooper disallowed Liverpool's valid goal, ultimately leading to The Reds' 2-1 defeat.

Starting this weekend, the Premier League seems to be introducing clearer protocols regarding VAR and officiating communication. The tightening is aimed at 'improving communication between the referee and the VAR team for decisions on the field.' Additionally, VAR will also confirm the decisions of referees before completing a check.
