Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe disagreed with the penalty awarded against his team in the closing minutes of the match against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Kylian Mbappé scored the equalizer from the penalty spot: 1-1.
"In my view, that was not the right decision," grumbled Howe after the game about the penalty that referee Szymon Marciniak awarded to PSG in stoppage time following a handball by Tino Livramento.
"It was a shot like a bullet and when you look at it in slow motion, it looks very different from reality. The ball hit his hand, but I don't believe he held his hand in an unnatural position. I think it's a weak judgment."
Howe was also frustrated because his team could not change the score much, after the English team had been leading 1-0 for a long time. "It's very frustrating for us, knowing there's so little time left in the game. But there's nothing we can do about it now."
In Group F, the battle for the second place is still open. Behind Borussia Dortmund, who are already assured of the knockout stage, PSG is second with 7 points. AC Milan and Newcastle United have 5 points each.
