Botman was absent Saturday for Newcastle in the home game against Burnley and also missed the cup match with Manchester City on Wednesday. After the victory over Burnley, Howe indicated that the defender will be out of rotation for a few more weeks.

The Newcastle manager confirmed that Botman will miss the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain and doesn’t expect him back with The Magpies until after the international break. Thus, Botman will likely have to count himself out of the upcoming European Championship qualifying matches against Greece and France.

The defender was included in the provisional selection of Oranje by head coach Koeman but will likely have to wait for his international debut. Koeman received earlier injury news about Frenkie de Jong, and Memphis Depay also seems to be dropping out for Oranje.
