The coach doesn't want to hear anything about "revenge" that Feyenoord would have taken after losing the Conference League final.
"The last ten months you were crying, haha. But you don't have to cry. You can't win a game you've lost. Today they win, but the problem is that we are only halfway through", said Mourinho, quoted by Voetbal International. Of course, Feyenoord didn't really take revenge on Roma, as we are only halfway through the tie.
"What do I think of the match? 1-0 for Feyenoord. I'm not a coach who's going to whine in front of the camera, it's the reality of the game. I can give my opinion on whether it's deserved or not, but the result is the reality. It doesn't matter that we dominated the game or that we missed a penalty. It's 1-0, but it's only 'half-time'", Mourinho said afterwards to ESPN.
He has a point. It's only half-time. But the mental advantage that Feyenoord has, in addition to the actual lead on the field, is very big. But Mourinho is definitely not giving up. "Everyone expected Feyenoord to dominate, but from the first minute we tried not to make the game one-sided. We put pressure, had the ball, and created chances.
