José Mourinho was absolutely not pleased with the performance of his team on Thursday night. AS Roma lost hopelessly to Slavia Prague in the Europa League, and the Portuguese coach severely criticized his players.
'The attitude of my players was really unacceptable,' Mourinho fumed in the post-match press conference. Slavia took a total of nineteen shots at AS Roma's goal, while the Italians themselves barely posed any threat. 'We lacked everything today. We deserve the pain of this defeat.'
Mourinho forbade his players from speaking to the media. 'That was my choice. No one should talk, because there's nothing to say. I've already addressed the players in the locker room. This is something I never do, because you're still in the middle of the adrenaline. But I found absolutely nothing enjoyable tonight. Nothing worked, and we were so bad that I don't want to make any excuses.'
Later, the AS Roma coach reconsidered and pointed out one positive aspect. 'There were very few players who had the right attitude. Today, there was only one who didn't deserve to lose, and that was Edoardo Bove. If your best player is a twenty-year-old boy who wasn't in the first team until two years ago, then something is seriously wrong. With only one out of eleven, you can't win matches.'
