Manchester United wants to do business with Bayern Munich again

Manchester United is reportedly interested in doing business with Bayern Munich again this summer. The club, managed by Erik ten Hag, had Marcel Sabitzer on loan from the German champions last season and is now said to be in the market for his teammate Leon Goretzka.

Sabitzer arrived on a temporary basis from Munich when Christian Eriksen got injured just before the winter transfer window closed. The Austrian returned from Manchester this summer but could now see Goretzka potentially leave, as reported by Sky Sports. "Manchester United continues to closely monitor the situation around the former Schalke 04 player," the outlet writes. "The transfer of Mason Mount did not change that," Sky adds.

Bayern Munich would reportedly be open to Goretzka's departure, but a significant fee would be required. "According to information from Sky, FCB would be willing to part ways with Goretzka if a serious offer of 40 or 50 million euros is tabled," the broadcaster reports. The stance of Der Rekordmeister is said to be influenced by the fact that manager Thomas Tuchel sees Konrad Laimer, who joined on a free transfer from RB Leipzig this summer, as the first option alongside undisputed regular Joshua Kimmich. Additionally, Bayern still has Ryan Gravenberch as an option and Raphael Guerreiro can also play in midfield.

During his first press conference of the new season, Tuchel openly expressed regret that Bayern missed out on Declan Rice. "He has a profile that, in my opinion, we don't have in the squad." Nevertheless, Goretzka is no longer considered untouchable, which could give Manchester United a chance. However, Ten Hag would face competition from "two or three other top clubs" if he decides to pursue Goretzka, according to Sky. The broadcaster does not disclose the names of those clubs.
