Harry Maguire has definitively cancelled the transfer to West Ham United. The defender wants to fight for a spot in the starting lineup at his current club, Manchester United.

Last week, Maguire seemed well on his way to the London club. Manchester United and West Ham United had reached an agreement on a transfer fee of around 35 million euros, with only Maguire and West Ham United needing to finalize the deal.

However, Maguire and West Ham United couldn't reach an agreement. The 30-year-old defender refused to take a pay cut, prompting West Ham United to pull the plug on the negotiations. Now, Maguire is doing the same, as his agent informed the BBC.

"Harry respects West Ham and David Moyes, but there was never an agreement between the player and the club. Harry will therefore remain at United. He loves the club and believes in getting playing time in the upcoming season."

Just this past Monday, Maguire spent ninety minutes on the bench for Manchester United against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
