Lyon also disappoints heavily in their first match since the attack on the team bus

Olympique Lyon has also failed to win their tenth league match of this season. The renowned club, which won the championship seven times in a row between 2002 and 2008, drew against the lowly Metz and remains at the bottom of the table. This comes after a week marked by the scandalous events surrounding the away match with Marseille.

That Lyon match was indeed rescheduled to December 6th because the bus was pelted with objects by hooligans in the lead-up to the game. Lyon coach Fabio Grosso was injured during the incident as he was hit by glass shards on his head.

In the Groupama Stadium, the successor of Laurent Blanc, who was dismissed earlier this season, hoped to finally wash away all that misery. That plan failed miserably. Metz was the better team before half-time. Lyon, with former Ajax player Nicolás Tagliafico (in the picture) in the starting lineup, had to thank goalkeeper Anthony Lopes for reaching halftime without conceding.

However, the goalkeeper couldn't keep a clean sheet in the second half. Lyon struggled to make an impact, and in the 77th minute, they fell behind due to a goal by Alblie Jallow. The Metz forward took the ball behind his standing leg and scored by hitting the inside of the post: 0-1. Laszlo Bölöni's team couldn't hold onto that lead. Just when the seventh defeat of the season seemed likely, Skelly Alvero, assisted by substitute Rayan Cherki, secured a point for Lyon by curling the ball into the net: 1-1.

The point doesn't help Lyon much. The once-mighty top club still has zero wins after ten league matches and is the dismal bottom of the French league. Metz remains sixteenth with six more points.
