Jürgen Locadia remains active in Spain. The thirty-year-old forward from Emmen is transferring from SD Amorebieta to Intercity, the fifteenth-placed team in the third division.

In March, Locadia moved from China to northern Spain, where he signed a short-term contract with Amorebieta. Over the course of thirteen matches, Locadia played only 54 minutes and did not score any goals. To make matters worse, the Basque club was relegated to the Primera División RFEF, the third tier of Spanish football.

After a few months, Locadia decided to leave Amorebieta and has now joined Intercity, which also competes in the Primera División RFEF. The club from Alicante made headlines in the 2022/23 season by forcing extra time against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey, although they eventually lost.

Locadia developed through the youth academy of FC Emmen and broke through at PSV. He then played for Brighton & Hove Albion, 1899 Hoffenheim, FC Cincinnati, VfL Bochum, Persepolis (Iran), Mighty Lions, and Amorebieta. At Intercity, he will reunite with Pol Llonch, the former captain of Willem II. The duration of Locadia's contract with Intercity has not been disclosed.

Locadia's career has been marked by a series of moves across different leagues and countries. His early promise at PSV earned him a transfer to the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion, where he initially struggled to find consistent form. Subsequent loan spells to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga and FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer provided mixed results. His time at VfL Bochum in Germany’s second tier was followed by a surprising stint with Persepolis in Iran, showcasing his willingness to explore diverse football cultures.

Intercity, despite being in the lower tiers of Spanish football, has shown ambition and resilience. The club's performance against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey highlighted its potential to challenge higher-tier teams. Locadia’s addition to the squad is seen as a strategic move to boost their attacking options and leverage his extensive international experience.

Fans of Intercity are hopeful that Locadia’s varied experience and skillset will help propel the team to greater success in the upcoming season. The club's management believes that his presence will not only enhance their on-field performance but also bring a wealth of professional experience to the younger players.

Locadia’s ability to adapt to different playing styles and environments will be crucial as he integrates into the team. With his career taking him from Europe to Asia and North America, he brings a unique perspective that could prove invaluable in Intercity’s quest for promotion. The football community will be watching closely to see how this next chapter in Locadia's career unfolds.
