James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keïta, Arthur Melo, and Fábio Carvalho. A total of seven midfielders have left Anfield this summer. After a challenging past season, Liverpool is currently undergoing a significant midfield clearout.

The club had already planned to revamp the midfield and quickly moved to bring in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. However, with the departures of Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia, The Reds now urgently need a new holding midfielder who can maintain the balance in midfield.

Lavia is the top candidate for that role. The Belgian joined Southampton a year ago from Manchester City's academy and confidently secured a starting position in the Premier League at just eighteen years old. Unfortunately, Lavia couldn't prevent Southampton's relegation.

Liverpool hoped to take advantage of the situation, but they've faced disappointment. Lavia still has a contract with Southampton until 2027, and The Saints are holding out for a high transfer fee. According to Sky Sports, Southampton is demanding fifty million pounds, approximately sixty million euros. Chelsea is also reportedly interested in him.

As a result, Liverpool is also exploring alternatives and has turned to André. The 22-year-old holding midfielder already has nearly 150 appearances for Fluminense under his belt. He made his debut for the Brazilian national team in June. André comes at a significantly lower cost compared to Lavia and, according to Sky, is considered a serious alternative.
