Valentín Castellanos is heading to Italy. The Argentine striker is leaving New York City FC to join Lazio.
The Romans are transferring fifteen million euros to the United States, where the former Argentine youth international has been under contract since 2018.
The striker played on loan at Girona last season, where he scored thirteen goals in 35 matches.
The 24-year-old forward scored four of those goals in the league match against Real Madrid. He single-handedly accounted for all four goals against the Royal Whites (4-2, red.). Before his stint at Girona, Castellanos became the top scorer in the MLS, scoring nineteen goals for New York City FC in the 2020/2021 season.
At Lazio, Castellanos will compete with Ciro Immobile. The Argentine has signed a contract until mid-2028 with the club in Rome.
