Frank Lampard is reportedly open to the head coach position at Rangers FC. The Scottish top club is looking for a replacement for the dismissed Michael Beale, and Lampard is said to be high on the list.
The board of Rangers decided to dismiss Beale on Sunday due to the ongoing disappointing results. Steven Davis has taken over on an interim basis, but the club board is actively seeking a suitable replacement. According to The Telegraph, Lampard is high on the list, and the former manager of Derby County, Chelsea, and Everton would be open to it as well.
The English paper writes that Lampard, along with AZ manager Pascal Jansen, Philippe Clement (unemployed), and Kevin Muscat (manager of Yokohama F. Marinos), is on the candidate list for Rangers FC. Lampard is currently without a club, after his dismissal from Everton and a short interim period at Chelsea. The Sun also writes that Lampard is willing to enter talks with the Scottish club.
Under Beale's leadership, Rangers missed out on qualifying for the Champions League group stage against PSV. In the league, it saw rival Celtic pull away by seven points in seven matches. In recent years, Rangers had appointed a former Premier League star as a manager twice before, with Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Brockhorst.
