One minute before the end, Benfica was still leading against Boavista with ten men. A penalty in the ninetieth minute and a winning goal by Robert Bozenik in the thirteenth minute of injury time turned the tables against Benfica. 'We would have been disappointed with a point,' Schmidt said to Sport TV after the match. 'We had a good chance with David Neres, but they scored from a counterattack with a long ball. That's football.'

'This time luck was on their side,' Kökcü concluded after the match. The Turkish international was frustrated with the result and mentioned that he is still finding his way at his new club. 'I still need to adapt a little. Everything is new for me. This is the first time I'm playing outside of the Netherlands. I have work to do to reach my level and I need some more time to showcase my game here.

Former teammate of Kökcü at Feyenoord, Bozenik, ultimately became the big hero with his late goal. 'I'm really happy. We deserved to win today, and it turned into a happy ending for us. Benfica played well and has great players, so it was important for us to stay calm and focused. Fortunately, we were able to score and win.'
