Kane cherishes the Euro ticket: 'Enough big countries haven't managed it in recent years'

87 international caps, 61 goals. Harry Kane is invaluable to England, which defeated Italy on Tuesday, in part thanks to two goals from the captain, securing a Euro ticket. 'In recent years, many major countries have failed to qualify for a final tournament.'

Gianluca Scamacca put the Italians ahead, but Marcus Rashford and Kane (2) decided the match in favor of the English (3-1). With two more matches to go, the team led by head coach Gareth Southgate is assured of qualification for EURO 2024. 'Even though we are in one of the toughest groups. Qualification is never easy,' Kane told the BBC.

'In recent years, many major countries have failed to qualify for a final tournament. If we manage to do that with two matches left, it shows that we're on the right track,' continued the thirty-year-old striker. 'I feel like we've sometimes made the qualification look easy, so all credit to the lads. Now, we have to see how far we can go in the Euros.'

Pushing Boundaries

Returning to Kane's personal achievements, he surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton's record. The Bayern Munich striker scored for the 24th time wearing the England jersey at Wembley, one more than his illustrious predecessor. 'I love playing at Wembley, it's our home. Taking the field here with the lads is one of the best feelings ever. I relish the records, but I want to keep pushing boundaries.'
