Joey Veerman and PSV have had an excellent start to the season. The 24-year-old midfielder, who has already scored four goals and provided seven assists this season, was recently named the Player of the Month for September.
Under Bosz, PSV plays a more attacking style than last season, and Veerman thrives in it. He doesn't see significant differences himself. 'I'm basically in the same position, so not much has changed for me,' Veerman said in an interview with Voetbal International. 'Even last season, I scored goals and provided many assists. The biggest difference is that last season, we lost to the teams fighting relegation, and so far, we haven't done that.'
We are still in full development as a team. In the Eredivisie, we've won everything quite convincingly and deservedly. But even in the Champions League against Sevilla, we created a lot of chances. That says something about how we are developing as a team, and also about how I am developing as a player here at PSV. Everyone asks me about my role and whether it's different this season, but I never quite understand what that question entails. I basically just always do my thing.
On Monday, the midfielder joined the Dutch national team, where he will face France and Greece. With Frenkie de Jong absent due to an injury, a starting position looks promising. 'I naturally hope for that, but you never know. There are plenty of other midfielders who have also started in the starting lineup for the Dutch team in recent times. We'll see. I'm just going to give it my all during training, and I hope it leads to a starting spot.'
