João Félix made a significant financial sacrifice to be allowed to leave for Barcelona on loan. The Portuguese player accepted millions less, in equivalent terms, to depart from Atlético Madrid.

In the Portuguese media, they have the details of the deal between the two top Spanish clubs. In João Félix's old contract, it was stated that he would earn around six million euros per year.

Atlético Madrid paid him for the months of July and August, and then Barcelona paid him 400 thousand euros for the rest of the season. This means that João Félix is missing out on five million euros in the current season.

In the upcoming seasons, when he returns to Atlético Madrid, the 23-year-old forward will also earn less. In the Spanish capital, they were willing to let him go if João Félix extended his contract. The financial terms have changed significantly. In the upcoming new season, João Félix will earn 'only' three million per season. With a contract running until mid-2028, this results in a loss of about twelve million.

João Félix moved to Benfica in 2019 for a massive sum and was also loaned to Chelsea last season. He has already made his debut for Barcelona, but he has not yet scored or provided an assist for his new employer.
