Inter Miami has announced the arrival of Gerardo Martino. The Argentine will be the new coach of the MLS club. This means that Lionel Messi will encounter a fellow countryman and an old acquaintance.

Martino has an impressive track record as a coach, with various South American clubs on his resume. In recent years, he has served as the head coach of Barcelona, the national coach of Argentina, the coach of Atlanta United, and the national coach of Mexico. With Martino, Inter Miami is bringing in a familiar face to Messi, as they have worked together for Argentina and Barcelona.
Martino's most recent successes include winning the Gold Cup with Mexico in 2019 and capturing the MLS Cup with Atlanta United the previous year. 'We are delighted to welcome Tata to Inter Miami,' said co-owner Jorge Mas through the club's channels. 'He has coached at the highest level, and we believe his experience will be of great benefit to us as we compete for titles.'
