Yann Sommer is having an impressive first half of the season with Internazionale. The Swiss goalkeeper was tasked with the challenging job of making people forget about Andre Onana, and he is succeeding with flying colors. In Italy, there is great praise for the goalkeeper of the Serie A leader.

Last season, it was Onana who made a significant impression, especially in the Champions League, where Inter reached the final, and the former Ajax goalkeeper was in top form. However, according to former striker Diego Milito, Nerazzurri have improved with Sommer.

The renowned sports newspaper concluded after the victory over reigning champions Napoli (0-3) that Onana is not missed at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium. "Inter has not weakened with the change in goalkeepers. On the contrary, with Sommer in goal, the Milanese top club is even stronger. And all this while he came from Germany for just seven million euros, while Onana moved to Manchester United for fifty million euros."
"Onana? Who is that? Sommer has blocked the way for Napoli and will be a key factor in the title race," continues the sports newspaper. "He is the Nerazzurri pillar on which Inter relies. The standings may suggest otherwise, but it's no coincidence that he is chosen as the man of the match. Onana is already forgotten in Italy."
The statistics also highlight Sommer's impact. Inter has conceded the fewest goals in Serie A this season. In fourteen league matches, the leader has only conceded seven goals. Sommer kept a clean sheet nine times.
