The former Swedish striker will become part of the organizational structure of the Italian club, taking on a new role that is yet to be defined but will not involve playing.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is returning to AC Milan. The former forward of the 'rossoneri' will join the club's structure as an advisor to the management, confirmed this Monday by 'RedBird Capital Partners', the owner of the Milanese club.
In a statement, the American investment company said that the former Swedish forward, who won numerous trophies as a player in Italy, "will serve as a senior advisor to the ownership and senior management of AC Milan," also acting as an "Operating Partner" for the "portfolio of sports, media, and entertainment investments."
According to the same company, Ibrahimovic's role at Milan "will include player development and high-performance training, advancing AC Milan's global brand and commercial interests, in addition to supporting projects of strategic importance, including the club's new stadium."
The former forward of Malmö, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and LA Galaxy, one of the most celebrated Swedish footballers of all time, will also have in his hands the company's investment portfolio in the sports field.
"He will develop training methods and high performance, will work on AC Milan as a global brand and will work on its commercial interests, in addition to supporting important strategic projects, such as a new stadium," can be read in a note from AC Milan.
Ibrahimovic ended his playing career at the end of last season, at 41 years old, a season in which a series of injuries allowed him to score only one goal for the 'rossoneri' in four games. However, that goal, scored against Udinese in March, made 'Ibra' the oldest goal scorer in the history of Serie A.
