Real Madrid narrowly escaped against Celta de Vigo. The team led by coach Carlo Ancelotti secured the victory only in the final moments: 0-1.
It was anything but smooth for Real Madrid, as they were at risk of falling behind just a few minutes into the match. Former FC Groningen striker Jorgen Strand Larsen found the net after only four minutes, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul in the buildup. As a result, the celebration for Celta was thwarted.
A setback for Real Madrid was the injury to Vinícius Jr., who had to be substituted after eighteen minutes. Joselu came on in his place. Clear-cut chances were scarce, and so it all came down to the second half. Despite Real Madrid having the upper hand, the biggest opportunity fell to Celta, but Strand Larsen shot just over from a promising position. Shortly after, Real Madrid earned a penalty as goalkeeper Ivan Villar brought down an opponent. Rodrygo stepped up, but Villar redeemed himself, keeping the score at 0-0.
It wasn't until the closing stages of the match that Real Madrid managed to level the playing field. Once again, it was Jude Bellingham who pulled Ancelotti's team out of trouble. A corner, headed on by Joselu, was met by Bellingham from close range and he headed the ball into the net.
