Fulham coach furious over Kenny Tete's shoe swap

Fulham coach Marco Silva was highly dissatisfied with Kenny Tete's shoe swap after the victorious League Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur. During the press conference, Silva indicated that the final word hasn't been spoken about the incident at the start of the second half: 'This is the first and last time something like this can happen.'

Eleven minutes into the second half, Tete left the field to retrieve a new shoe from the dressing room. This left Fulham temporarily with ten players on the field.

Tottenham Hotspur took advantage of this situation, quickly equalizing with a goal from Richarlison. Ultimately, The Spurs would be defeated in a penalty shootout. Tete scored the decisive penalty.

'In the future, we will certainly handle this differently,' Silva said after the match. 'We gave our opponent the opportunity to play against ten men. The referee is not to blame; we simply cannot let this happen.'

'Hopefully, the players will know what to do the next time we're down to ten men. It wasn't our best performance, and we will definitely address it, especially because we conceded a goal during that time. I expect more maturity from my team in such moments.'

Despite Fulham's lapse, the Portuguese manager was satisfied with his team. 'We were better and deserved to win. We knew when to apply pressure and executed our plan almost perfectly. You could see our confidence growing with each passing minute,' Silva concluded.
