Romelu Lukaku will be playing under José Mourinho once again. The Belgian striker has committed himself to AS Roma for the remainder of this season, marking his return to Serie A. He is transferring from Chelsea.

Throughout the summer, there was turmoil around the striker. Chelsea no longer wanted him, but he didn't sign a contract elsewhere. He parted ways with Internazionale, where he had been on loan during the highly successful past season.
A flirtation with Juventus also came to nothing. The deadlock has now been broken by Roma, just before the market closed.
Reportedly, the Giallorossi are paying Chelsea around nine million euros to loan him for a year, as per English media – slightly lower figures are mentioned in Italy. Nevertheless, there is no obligation to buy in the deal, raising doubts about whether the thirty-year-old striker will ever yield a significant portion of the approximately 110 million euros transfer fee paid for him to Chelsea in 2021.
Now that Big Rom is in Rome, personally brought in by Roma owner Dan Friedkin, he will be reunited with the man who has been a constant presence in his career: José Mourinho. The Special One had Lukaku under his guidance as a young talent at Chelsea, later brought him to Manchester United for a substantial fee, and now welcomes him once again into his squad.
