Ederson denies conflict with Ortega, his fellow goalkeeper at City

At a time when there is talk of a possible move to Saudi Arabia, The Athletic reported that Ederson wants to leave Manchester City due to displeasure with Guardiola's praise of Ortega, who replaced the Brazilian in the final stretch of the season. Ederson denies this.

Ederson Moraes took to social media to clarify the alleged displeasure he supposedly felt towards Guardiola and teammate Stefan Ortega. The Brazilian international denied any conflict, addressing recent rumors that have been circulating.

The "imbroglio" arose in recent days when The Athletic reported that Ederson was unhappy with the praise given to Ortega when he replaced him at the end of last season. Ederson had been injured and missed the last games, also failing to make the squad for the Copa América. This report suggested that Ederson's dissatisfaction stemmed from feeling overshadowed by Ortega's commendations from the manager.

"Clarifying that the note published by The Athletic yesterday, referring to an alleged dissatisfaction on my part towards a colleague, is completely false. The supposed day mentioned was undoubtedly one of the hardest days of my career, when I suffered a fracture that prevented me from playing the final stretch of the season and consequently representing my country in the Copa América. At the moment of the injury, my only thought was to continue in the game, defending Manchester City in the title race. However, the emotion of the match was greater than reality, and, unfortunately, I couldn't continue as I wanted due to the damage it caused, completely obstructing my vision. I remain focused on preparing for the season," the goalkeeper stated.

Ederson's absence in the final critical games of the season was a significant blow for Manchester City, as his performances have been pivotal in the club's recent successes. Despite his injury, he expressed his unwavering commitment to the team and his eagerness to return stronger for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Ederson has been linked to moves to Saudi Arabia, with Al Nassr and Al Ittihad showing interest in acquiring the talented goalkeeper. This speculation has added fuel to the rumors about his potential dissatisfaction at Manchester City. However, Pep Guardiola has not confirmed these transfer rumors but instead voiced his strong desire for Ederson to remain with the club.

"I hope, from the bottom of my heart, that he continues with us. I would love for him to stay. I cannot imagine our processes of the past seasons without him. He is an important figure in the dressing room," Guardiola said. His statement underscores the critical role Ederson plays not just on the pitch but also within the team dynamic and morale.

As Manchester City prepares for the new season, the club and its fans are keen to see Ederson return to full fitness and continue his impressive form. His clarification aims to put to rest any doubts about his commitment and focus, reinforcing his determination to contribute to the team's success. With pre-season preparations underway, Ederson's presence will be integral as City aims to defend their titles and pursue further glory in both domestic and European competitions.
