Chelsea pushes Madueke towards the exit with interest in former youth player

Chelsea is set to approach Crystal Palace again for Michael Olise, according to English media. The potential arrival of the 21-year-old forward spells bad news for Noni Madueke. The dribbler moved from PSV to Chelsea in January, with the latter paying as much as 35 million euros to the Eindhoven club. Madueke's contract runs until the summer of 2030.

Madueke has now been with Chelsea for ten months, but the 21-year-old winger's tenure has been anything but successful so far. In his first half-season, Madueke played 645 minutes across 12 matches and managed to score once. This season, the English youth international has only amassed 116 minutes in 5 games.

Chelsea's renewed interest in Olise fuels rumors in England about Madueke's departure. While there is confidence in the dribbler's talent, which he showcases with England's youth teams, it is expected that his chances of playing time will diminish if Chelsea buys another attacker.

Chelsea wanted to strengthen their squad with Olise last summer, who previously played in the youth academy of the Blues from 2009 to 2016. The Londoners were prepared to activate the buyout clause in the French youth international's contract at the time, but the transfer fell through. Olise decided to extend his contract with Crystal Palace in August and is now tied to the club until the summer of 2027. He has an Expected Transfer Value of 27.4 million euros.
