In his first press conference as a Real Madrid player, Kylian Mbappé was asked about his goals now that he has joined the prestigious club.
He confidently stated, "Champions League and Ballon d'Or are your goals now that you are at Real Madrid? 'I'm in the best place to win titles, but my priority now is to adapt to the team, which is key, the rest will come naturally."
Mbappé is set to wear the number 9 jersey, a choice that has sparked curiosity among fans. He clarified, "You will wear the number 9 jersey: 'Who said I wanted the number 10? It belongs to Modric, who won the Ballon d'Or [in 2018], and I'm happy to have him by my side in the locker room. I don't focus on the jersey, only on what's ahead, the goal. The back of the jersey doesn't matter to me. [The number 10] is an important number, but it's not the most important thing for me."
When asked about his fluency in Spanish, Mbappé shared his journey of learning the language. "Are you already fluent in Spanish? 'I started in school. I wasn't the best, but I knew I had the dream of playing for Real Madrid, and if I improved, it would be easier to adapt. I had coaches who spoke Spanish like Luis Enrique and Pochettino [at PSG], and I'm not afraid to speak or make mistakes. I want to improve as quickly as possible."
Mbappé's ambitions align perfectly with Real Madrid's storied history of success. "Goals: 'My goals are not different from the club's. The goal is always to win titles. I hope to win them with the team as well. I don't like to set a goal for the number of goals; if I have to provide assists, I will. Real Madrid is always a favorite in the Champions League."
In addition to Mbappé, Real Madrid has also secured the young talent, Endrick. Mbappé expressed his support for the new signing, "Another reinforcement secured by Real Madrid is Endrick: 'I know his reputation, but I haven't seen him play many times. He will certainly be a great talent, otherwise you don't sign for Real Madrid. He is young and will have to learn things. If he needs help, I am here for him, because I know what it means to start at a very young age."
