Bruno Guimarães hates playing against Man City: 'It's terrible.'

Bruno Guimarães once started playing football like many boys do for fun, but there's one game in which the Brazilian hardly feels that: Manchester City away. The midfielder from Newcastle United says he even hates playing against the team of manager Pep Guardiola.

Guimarães has been playing for Newcastle since the beginning of 2022 and has since faced City three times. At home, Newcastle held the champions to a respectable 3-3 draw, but at the Etihad Stadium, it was a hopeless story twice. Newcastle lost 5-0 and last season 2-0. The midfielder does not enjoy the visits to the blue part of Manchester, he tells in the Charla Podcast.

'Man City is simply a step higher than all other clubs in England, with all due respect. It's the worst match to play, I hate it,' says Guimarães. 'On the field, it feels like we are a bunch of kids and they are the pros. It's terrible. It's as if we have seven men on the field and they have fifteen. It's incredible how extremely good they are.'

The Brazilian also noticed that instructions from the manager have little use. 'Normally, the team meeting is about details like which side we need to put pressure on. But how are you supposed to play against City? You go on the field and they score right away. It's very hard, they have so many good players…'
