Lucas Hernández will leave Bayern Munich after four years. According to various French media outlets, the defender is currently in Paris to finalize his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. At Bayern, Min-jae Kim from Napoli will then become Hernández's successor once again.
The 27-year-old Hernández made the switch from Atlético Madrid to Bayern in 2019 and, with a transfer fee of 80 million euros, he is still the record purchase of Der Rekordmeister. Reportedly, he will now move to PSG for around 50 million euros. Bayern is thus accepting a significant loss but can acquire Kim from Napoli for the same amount.
The question is how Hernández will be welcomed in Paris. The 33-time French international was born in Marseille, and the supporters' group Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) of PSG made it clear through their chairman that Hernández was not welcome due to his origin. However, this did not deter the defender from pursuing the transfer.
Hernández played only eleven matches for Bayern in the past season, mainly due to injury troubles. He missed the entire second half of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury. In total, Hernández played 107 matches for Bayern over four years.
