Atalanta Bergamo is not planning to facilitate a transfer for Teun Koopmeiners. That has been communicated by director Luca Percassi. Koopmeiners was linked with Napoli in the summer and reportedly Juventus is also keen on the Dutch international.
Koopmeiners is in his third season with Atalanta and is praised from all sides for his contribution to the team of coach Gian Piero Gasperini. Recently, the midfielder was the match winner in the away game against Hellas Verona. In Sunday's top match against Juventus, Koopmeiners had two chances to help Atalanta to a victory, but his sights were not sharp.
Before the match against Juventus, Atalanta director Percassi spoke with DAZN about the alleged interest of The Old Lady in Koopmeiners, who scored twice this season in seven league matches. Napoli reportedly offered fifty million euros for the former AZ captain last summer. 'We have no intention whatsoever to sell Koopmeiners and it will stay that way,' said Percassi.
'Koopmeiners embodies the Atalanta spirit: he gives a hundred percent every week, is a great professional, and has impressive footballing qualities,' said the director of Atalanta. The Italian club signed Koopmeiners in the summer of 2021 for about fourteen million euros from AZ.
Last summer, Atalanta did say goodbye to Rasmus Højlund, who moved to Manchester United for 75 million euros (excluding bonuses). 'We are still very happy with that deal, also because it was Rasmus's wish after one of the biggest clubs in the world approached us,' said Percassi.
