This summer, Chelsea is not only planning to sell players, but they also want to make at least one acquisition. The Blues are looking to bring in Elye Wahi from Montpellier. According to L'Équipe, Montpellier is seeking a fee of around thirty million euros.
According to the French newspaper, Chelsea is set to make their first offer for the French forward this week. If the deal goes through, Wahi would become Chelsea's third summer signing after Nicolas Jackson and Cristopher Nkunku.
Chelsea has already sold nine players from their current first-team squad. While Wahi was previously linked with a transfer to Arsenal, Chelsea appears to be more serious contenders.
Wahi, a product of Montpellier's youth academy, had an outstanding season in Ligue 1. In 33 matches, he scored nineteen goals for Montpellier, who finished thirteenth in the French league.
One of Wahi's standout performances last season was undoubtedly against Olympique Lyon. The Montpellier striker scored four goals in that match, although he did not receive the Man of the Match award. Alexandre Lacazette, who also scored four goals but netted the winning goal in the hundredth minute, claimed that honor.
